UZC x LVMH Cultural Heritage Digital Communication Project

UZC partnered with LVMH Group to create the "Heritage Digitalization Initiative," deeply integrating traditional craftsmanship with digital technology. The project established three innovative pillars: a high-precision digital scanning system using 48-megapixel professional equipment for 3D digitization of traditional craft products with micron-level detail accuracy; a virtual experience platform recreating historical workshop scenes through VR technology, allowing users to immersively experience traditional artisans' production processes; and a digital art recreation engine employing generative AI to transform traditional patterns into modern design elements.

In the French leather workshop preservation project, UZC Paris documented 200-year-old leather embossing techniques, Tokyo Digital Lab combined Japanese lacquerware craftsmanship with modern product design, while Italy division revived Renaissance leather gilding techniques through digital technology.

The project not only expanded the audience coverage of traditional crafts to younger demographics but also increased sales of related product lines by 28%, winning UNESCO's Cultural Heritage Innovation Award. The partners are developing a metaverse-based virtual cultural heritage exhibition system, planning to create a never-ending digital craft museum.
