UZC has designed a line of IoT-enabled fermentation jars for BrewCraft Labs, a niche startup empowering homebrewers. The jars, crafted by industrial designer Priya Mehta, monitor temperature, pH levels, and yeast activity via Bluetooth sensors, guiding users via a companion app. Each jar features a removable ceramic infuser for herbs and spices, with interchangeable lids for different brew types.
Mehta’s design simplifies complex brewing processes while maintaining artisanal charm. UZC’s Shanghai team optimized the sensors’ energy efficiency using low-power algorithms, extending battery life to six months. The jars’ minimalist aesthetic, inspired by Scandinavian ceramics, has already won praise at the Milan Design Week.
BrewCraft Labs’ founder, Jason Lee, stated: “Priya’s jars turn homebrewing into a precision science without losing the hobby’s soul. The app’s community features let brewers share recipes globally.” The product launched on Kickstarter, exceeding funding goals within 48 hours.
