Colombian-born designer Marco Velez has reimagined luxury retail spaces through his latest project for an Italian haute couture house. Commissioned to enhance in-store experiences, Velez created "Luminous Narratives"—a series of interactive light installations that respond to customer movement and voice commands.
Each sculpture projects real-time data visualizations of the garments’ craftsmanship journey, from raw materials to finished pieces. The installation’s success lies in its ability to transform passive shopping into participatory storytelling, boosting store foot traffic by 40% within three months. Velez’s fusion of kinetic engineering with poetic symbolism earned him the International Retail Design Award. "True luxury isn’t about ownership—it’s about creating memorable moments," he explained. His work is now being adapted for museums and public venues worldwide.
